To participate in the Summer Reading Challenge, you will need to register each member of your family online on our READsquared portal: http://ltpl.readsquared.com/

All ages are welcome and encouraged to participate. We have challenges for Read-to-Mes (ages 0-4), Kids (Pre-K-5th), Middle/High (6th-12th), and Adults (18+). Once registered, you will be able to log reading, complete activities, play games, earn badges, track points, and claim prizes. Register here! http://ltpl.readsquared.com/

The Summer Reading Challenge is a way to encourage reading and learning during the summer by providing incentives. So, when you read this summer, each minute of reading you log is worth one point. Spend time reading anything – from chapter books and graphic novels to audiobooks and magazines! Anything counts, and it all earns you points to spend on prizes.

Beyond Reading

While Summer Reading is designed to promote reading, it is also so much more. This year’s theme is Oceans of Possibilities and, as such, LTPL’s Summer Reading Challenge is a chance to participate in an ocean of fun and exciting activities, including take-and-make craft kits like floating foam pirate ships, educational events like a visit from Dan the Creature Man, and health and wellness classes like Yoga. Reading, as well as participating in other Summer Reading enrichment activities, brings community members together at the library for a rewarding summer of fun!

Earn Points and Claim Prizes

Get rewarded this summer when you log reading minutes and participate in library activities and events. Each minute of reading logged in READsquared is worth one point. Activities are worth 20 points. Attending an event is worth 50 points! For every 200 points earned, you can choose a prize from READsquared’s online prize store. When you reach the 700-point milestone, you earn a free personal pizza or tossed salad from Benito’s Pizza South Lyon! The final goal is to reach 1,000 points and earn your very own Summer Reading Champion t-shirt!

Thanks to our Sponsors

Summer Reading is a great opportunity to explore new ideas, develop a love of reading, and have fun as a Library community! We are incredibly grateful to this year’s sponsors, Benito’s Pizza, Vibe Credit Union, New Hudson McDonald’s and the Friends of the Library, for helping us provide this engaging learning opportunity for the Lyon Township community.
